Businesses across the world have been anxiously awaiting the final word on President Trumps’ “List Three” tariff decision. List Three commonly refers to the Section 301 tariffs. Announced in July, they were later raised to a potential 25%. This section targets $200bn in Chinese manufactured products.
Yesterday, an official announcement was made. Beginning September 24th, this list will be subject to additional tariffs of 10%. Beginning on January 1, 2019, the 10% will increase to 25%.
Speculation continues as to whether 25% will hit in 2019 as proposed or if political action will out over the planned increase. President Trump has also cited the additional $267bn in goods he can tariff as needed.
