Largest Alliance 2M To Dissolve

The global shipping industry is preparing for a major shake-up. The largest shipping alliance, between MSC and Maersk is being to dissolved.

Both carriers announced Wednesday they have mutually agreed to terminate the 2M alliance effective January 2025. The 2M Alliance was signed in 2015 with the intent of running 10 years service US east and west coasts.

“Discontinuing the 2M alliance paves the way for both companies to continue to pursue their individual strategies,” said MSC CEO Soren Toft and newly appointed A.P. Moeller-Maersk CEO Vincent Clerc in a joint statement.
